At this point in our busy lives, most of us know that Facebook is a big deal. For those of you who do not know about Facebook, Facebook is a social network, if you will. You can create your own page, in a way, and you are able to connect with others on Facebook by becoming "friends", you can message people (which kind of resembles e-mail), and you can post blogs. In addition, you can comment on your friend's pages, make photo albums, post pictures, join groups, and even add fun applications, like free gifts, where you can send your friends "presents". It is just like having your own mini-website.

Personally, I think Facebook is one of the greatest things ever created. Whoever came up with the idea and it's creation is a genius. I've been able to keep in contact with my friends who have gone to college outside of Purdue University AND those who are at Purdue with me whom I do not see often just because of Facebook. I'll admit that there are other ways to keep in touch, such as writing e-mail and sending mail un-electronically, but at the same time who really e-mails now that Facebook, and other sites like MySpace exist? I have been able to contact those that I am doing group projects with through facebook. I can also show off all my pictures to those I do not see much, like my friends who are going to college in California. As you can see, Facebook has many advantages, but nevertheless, it has it's disadvantages as well.

To be honest, I am probably up until at least 2 o'clock every night doing homework, and the sad thing is it isn't because of the amount that I have to do. In fact, when it all comes down to it, I don't have all that much homework, I just "facebook" way too much. It is a major distraction. Before I came to college, I rarely ever used Facebook, let alone the computer unless I had an assignment that involved using one. Now that I am here at Purdue with my own Apple Macbook, I find myself on the online and using facebook at least 5 times a day. You could say I'm an addict, in a sense, and I definitely need to stop, but for some reason I can't and it's not my fault!

Most of the time, I say that if something has at least 2 advantages, then it's worth it. Facebook meets my standards haha. I think that if you do not have a Facebook, you should click here and get one.

I'll be back with another post later this week, but for now, I have to check facebook...I hope somebody wrote on my wall or tagged me in a photo!

Story of my life. I am on facebook all the time. Sometimes I think it interferes with my school work though because I always feel like I should check it. I'm a compulsive email checker and this leads to be constantly checking facebook.
